How to Play MECCHA CHAMELEON
Complete beginner walkthrough — from launching the game to winning your first round.
Basic Game Flow
- Launch & Join a Lobby
Start Meccha Chameleon on Steam. Choose Quick Match for public games or Create Room for private lobbies with friends. Lobbies support 2–10 players.
- Team Assignment
The game randomly assigns you as a Hider or Seeker. Hiders paint themselves to camouflage; Seekers hunt down camouflaged players.
- Prep Phase (Hiders Only)
Hiders get a preparation period before Seekers are released. Use this time to find a spot, sample colors with the eyedropper, paint your body, and choose a pose.
- Hiding Phase
Seekers are released. Hiders must stay perfectly still in their chosen spot. Any movement can give away your position.
- Hunting Phase
Seekers patrol the map, scanning for color mismatches, unnatural shapes, and subtle movements. Tag suspects to eliminate them.
- Round End
Hiders win if at least one survives the timer. Seekers win by tagging every Hider before time runs out.
Key Tips
- Use the eyedropper (Right-click in paint mode) to sample exact colors from surfaces
- Match lighting gradients — brighter on lit sides, darker in shadows
- Choose poses that break up your human silhouette
- Check metallic and roughness sliders — a glossy body on a matte wall stands out
- Use 3rd person view (key 3) to check for unpainted spots
- Hold still during the hiding phase — micro-movements are the #1 giveaway
